About us

We vacationed here with our family for 17 years prior to moving to Mount Desert Island, Maine. In 2004 we made the big move from Maryland, and designed and built our dream home. Rodney began his construction company, Island Finishes, in 2005. He has built a great reputation as a builder, remodeler, and a property caretaker for many properties.  

In 2017 Island Finishes built a home for our neighbors. They were interested in having the same screened-in porch system that the Hampton Door Co. (Westfield, MA) provided for their home in Massachusetts. Rodney spoke with the Hampton Door Co. about their product, and quickly became interested. Eventually, he became a certified Tiger Wire® Screen Systems fabricator and installer for Maine.

Rodney began his working career in the construction world in the Washington, DC area. He began as a carpenter, was promoted to superintendent, and eventually became project manager. The clients were high-end, both in the commercial and residential field. When Rodney has free time, he enjoys photography and watercolor painting.

Debbie also worked in the Nation’s Capital as a legal assistant to a large law firm for many years. She is the bookkeeper for Tiger Wire®. During her downtime, she enjoys playing Mah Jongg and gardening.

After our move in 2004, our adult son and daughter followed suit. We have four granddaughters, two Old English Sheepdog furkids, Stormy and Sonny, and one granddog, Norri, who is a Goldendoodle.     

We love the Island, and our community. Moving to Maine was truly a dream come true.
